OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM UNIVERSITY OF SUNDERLAND, MDIS (SINGAPORE) AND MDIS TASHKENT

A video alleging that over 600 of Management Development Institute of Singapore at Tashkent (MDIST) students are currently experiencing issues in progressing in their studies has been circulating on the social media networks since 17th October 2023.

Management Development Institute of Singapore at Tashkent (MDIST) would like to rectify the inaccuracies on the video post with the following statement:

MDIST was established as a tertiary education institution on the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, No. PD-691, dated 5th September 2007. MDIST prepares qualified specialists for the labour market, providing training for 15 Undergraduate Degree and 3 Graduate Degree programmes offered by its UK University Partners.

Graduates who successfully complete their studies will be awarded the qualification from the partner university. The programmes offered are in full compliance with the requirements of the Academic Regulations approved by the University partners and meet international academic standards.

At the discretion of the partner University’s Programme Assessment board, a fail and repeat attempt at a module may be offered to students leading to:

  • Repeat with attendance or by an alternative mode of study;
  • Final reassessment as a referral.

Students who have to re-take a particular module need only pay for the affected module and not the entire course fee.

Once all assessment opportunities are exhausted, the affected students will not be able to continue with their studies in the current programme and will have to exit from the programme. Students may decide and be entitled to exit with an interim award or work towards an interim award.

MDIST is committed to the success of its students and will render assistance, such as providing tutorial and revision classes, to students who require additional support to complete their studies. Remedial lessons, where required, will also be provided at no extra cost.

About 532 taking educational programmes offered by one of our University partners in the Academic Year 2022-23 were identified as having potential academic misconduct that contravened the requirements of the Academic Regulations.

In accordance with the partner Academic Regulations, we are currently reviewing each of these misconduct cases and a decision will be made by the University partner on the resolution of these academic infringements to ensure the quality and standards of the awards.

MDIST are committed to ensuring its operations are fully transparent and meet international academic standards. To uphold the integrity and high standards of the Degree programmes being offered, academic misconduct, such as plagiarism, is taken seriously and will not be condoned.
