The School of Tourism and Hospitality Management at Southern Cross University
The School of Tourism and Hospitality Management is a pioneer of tourism education in Australia, having offered innovative tourism and hospitality degrees since 1989. With our history comes many years of accumulated knowledge and experience in delivering world-class tourism, hospitality and events courses that accommodate the changing needs of twenty-first century students.
We offer a range of undergraduate and coursework masters courses that enable students to meet the challenges of working in tourism and hospitality industries. Our courses are industry-relevant and academically rigorous, giving students the perfect blend of theory, practical skills and creative approaches to establish their careers.
The School’s undergraduate internship program provides a near seamless transition from university study to work within diverse tourism and hospitality businesses. Many of our students are offered full-time employment by the organisation in which they do their internship placement, which provides an excellent springboard into their career.
The School enjoys long-standing professional relationships with tourism and hospitality industries, and because we deliver specialist courses, our students study industry-relevant content from day one of their studies.
We also have a strong research culture, so our students are taught by academics who are actively contributing to global knowledge concerning tourism and hospitality.
We have developed a strong international culture. Students study with us at one of our three Australian campuses at the Gold Coast, Lismore, and Coffs Harbour. They also study at The Hotel School Sydney (a unique partnership between Southern Cross University and Mulpha Australia); with MDIS at either Singapore or Tashkent; or with other collaborating institutions based in Singapore and Thailand.
